This spring reel is used to hold large-diameter spring wire form (in this video we're seeing .362 oil-tempered) while it's being fed into a CNC spring coiler. Ultimately this wire will be wound into a compression spring which is used in oil regulation equipment. Changing out larger, raw material spring coils can sometimes require two people and take up to an hour and a half to change. Smaller spring reels can be changed out in a matter of minutes.
