Cycle testing springs is deflecting a spring over the course of a given amount of time at a certain rate that provides documentation of a spring’s lifetime performance.
Presetting springs consists of making a spring to a longer length so that when it’s compressed beyond its elastic limit, the spring will ultimately settle to its desired free length.
The presetting process is a secondary operation performed to reduce the stress of springs that are designed with higher stresses.
