Stainless steel has excellent corrosion-resistant properties and high strength in high-temperature environments. Stainless steel spring wire is used for many consumer, commercial, industrial applications as well as chemical, food and pharmaceutical processing.
Stainless steels can be welded to join metals together. The weld joint can have the same corrosion-resistant characteristics as with the stainless-steel spring wire. Designers should be aware that as with any metal, stainless steel can undergo changes in its characteristics and a certain degree of care and testing should be taken to minimize or prevent any changes in the corrosive or strength characteristics in the weld zone.
